A Message from our Chair
We hope this site will serve to help communication between Swarthmore voters, our candidates, and all who wish to become involved in shaping the electoral process.
Swarthmore, like most of Delaware County, was a Republican municipality in previous generations. In the past fifteen years, we have experienced a shift in registration toward Democrats and Independents who recently elected the first Democratic mayor in the history of our Borough. Our Mayor, Rick Lowe, joins our dedicated and capable Borough Council who are leading the way forward for our town.
In the past 5 years, we have also seen the emergence of candidates who are changing the shape of Pennsylvania and national politics with the elections of Bryan Lentz to the PA State House and Joe Sestak to the US Congress. Both candidates displaced entrenched Republican incumbents, and have brought new life to their elected positions. The residents and voters of Swarthmore mobilized tremendous efforts to elect these candidates. Over 1400 Swarthmoreans worked to elect our President, Barack Obama.
